The discussion focuses on both global and local aspects of the textile industry, its environmental and social impacts, as well as possibilities for sustainable transformation. The project re-(t)exHile connects experiences from Lagos and Trnava, mapping the movement and recycling of used clothing and its effects on the environment and communities. The conversation will bring together members of the collective of authors and local stakeholders from diverse backgrounds who were actively involved in the artists’ research, contributing their own practices and perspectives on the Slovak textile industry and what remains at the end of its production cycle. We will address questions of responsible production and consumption, as well as new models for the functioning of fashion in the time of climate crisis.
